A man has been arrested in Barakaldo on charges of threatening police officers with knives to deal with a violent robbery
The officers tried to stop the man with a taser gun, and seeing that they didn't get it, they shot him in the leg.
A 61-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon in Barakaldo (Bizkaia) on charges of stab threats by officers of the Barakaldo Municipal Police, who came to attend to a robbery with violence and threatened them there by the man. To stop him, the officers used a taser gun and then shot him inthe leg.
According to the Basque Government's Department of Security in a note, the event took place at 7.40 p.m. yesterday, Friday. Barakaldo Police officers went to a commercial establishment inthe Carmen district, warning of a violent robbery.
When they reached the outside of the establishment, the police found a man threatening them with a knife. The officers tried to stop the man and used a taser gun. However, the man maintained an aggressive attitude. The officers shot him in the leg.
The man arrested has numerous records of similar events.
The injured man was treated there by the health services and taken to Cruces Hospital, where he is admitted, stable and out of danger. He is charged with robbery with violence and assault on officers.
