The Investigation Section of the Bilbao Court of Instance has handed over to the Courts of Violence against Women the investigation of the case of the deathof a 44-year-old woman in Basauri last Wednesday, considering it to be a murder in a context of gender-based violence.
The Magistrate considers that the two conditions for the Courts of Violence against Women to take over the investigation are met, namely the existence of "acts constituting a crime of murder" which "may have occurred against a woman who has had a relationship with the investigator".
The order of 7 April is not final and may be appealed against.
