From now on, the Palliative Care Protocol is not limited to terminally ill patients with a survival of less than six months.

The Interterritorial Health Council of Spain approves the Palliative Care Strategy. The main innovation is that these care will not only be offered to patients in the final stages of life.
The new document, known as the National Health System's Palliative Care Strategy, will be valid for the period 2026-2030. The recognition of this care as an individual right will be strengthened regardless of the pathology or place of residence.
The main innovation is that, from now on, palliative care will not only be provided to terminally ill patients, but the suffering caused by the disease will be taken into accountwhen establishing the protocol, so that different tools will be put in place to identify patients in need of palliative care at different stages of their illness.
