The Ertzaintza has increased surveillance in the face of bell robberies at the Bizkaia hermitage
Most of the robberies have taken place in the Duranguesado and Lea-Artibai, unguarded hermitages but located in high-value rural areas.
The Ertzaintza, in collaboration with the Diocese of Bilbao, has launched a plan to control the theft of bells in connection with the theft of the hermitage of Bizkaia.
In a statement, the Department of Safety and Security has recalled that several robberies have been committed at the BizkaiaHermitage , mainly in Duranguesado and Lea-Artibai.
These robberies have taken placein buildings without surveillance , in rural areas of great heritage and cultural value.
Since the plan was launched, no more bells have been stolen, according to the Department of Safety and Security.
