Thanks to the information provided, the latter were immediately located and arrested, very close to the scene of the murder, and the mother of the alleged perpetrator was telephoned to go to the police station with her son, which she did.
The two Ertzainas have reported that the principal accused, although he refused to testify in principle , subsequently "voluntarily" confessed the crime to the Chief of Operations of the Ertzaintza. In response to this, they requested a court-appointed lawyer to take a statement back before him, confirming his initial words.
Another officer has testified that the second defendant explained to him that the knife used in the murder belonged to him and left it to the alleged murderer, who also stated that the weapon had been thrown into a container.
