Bilbao will host the "II. He will take "march" on June 14
The organizers expect more than 2,500 people to join this solidarity event, which will aim to promote healthy lifestyles, such as raising awareness of the importance of cancer prevention and research, especially for men.
The second edition of the Solidarity March against Cancer, organized by theBizkaia Cancer Association , will be held in Bilbao on 14 June, with the aim of promoting healthy lifestyles and raising public awareness of the importance of prevention and oncological research, especially in the field of prostate cancer.
The event, whose main sponsor is Iberdrola España, as well as various public and private institutions, will have its starting point and destination on the esplanade of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, where participants will walk about four kilometres from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. In addition, the organizers have explained that this route will be suitable for all ages, accessible and without architectural barriers.
Most common tumor
This year, however, this solidarity day will focus on prostate cancer, the most prevalent tumor among men. It is also the third leading cause of cancer death, behind lung and colorectal cancer. According to the latest data provided by the Spanish Cancer Epidemiological Information System (SIEC), around 1,800 new casesof prostate cancer were diagnosed in the CSC in 2023.
In this context, the president of the Bizkaia Cancer Association, María Milagrosa Gullón, has stressed that research is essential for the development of more effective diagnostic methods and treatments, so the Bizkaia Association is working to support six research projects on prostate cancer being developed byCIC bioGUNE and the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, with an investment of more than 800,000 euros.

- Research: The Cancer Association of Bizkaia currently promotes 6 projects in 2 research centres, with a total investment of 814,810.70 euros.

All those who wish to take part in this march must registerthrough the AECC website before the 2,500 dorsales available are exhausted. These ridges will be priced between EUR 8 and 10 and the buyer will be entitled to a t-shirt and a healthy supply.
