A forest fire has broken out on Mount Oiz, in the municipality of Muxika (Bizkaia), according to the Ertzaintza, which has reported that the temperature is currently very high and this has made it difficult to extinguish the fire and has increased the risk of it spreading in this area.
At themoment, the extent of the fire is unknown, as is the affected area , but the authorities are assessing it.
A helicopter is inspecting the area to determine the exact location and evolution of the fire, while emergency teams have deployed on the ground to try to control the flames.
The smoke column is quite visible on the highway, especially in the vicinity of Durango and Galdakao, so it has alerted many drivers who were walking in the area.
The fire has taken over Mount Oiz, an area of special natural value, but forthe time being it has not been reported that it will affect inhabited areas and infrastructure.
