The fire is still out of control in Almeria, with 12 dead, 23 missing and 1,405 evicted

The fire in Los Gallardos (Almería) is still outofcontrol and, due to , 1,405 people have already had to be evicted. The provisional balance is 12 people have died , seven people have been reported missing  and 23 people have not yet been located. The Andalusian Government has carried out further evacuations south of Lubrin and has called on the population to stay at home.

More than 500 personnel and 22 air assetsare involved in the extinction work, in a complex situation caused by the strong wind. 

The 12 autopsies of the deceased have already been completed, but they have not been able to be identified due to the condition of the bodies. According to the first investigations, the majority are foreigners, mainly British and Belgian. Among the victims are people who tried to flee by car and others who tried to leave on foot, being caught in flames. In addition, eight people have been injured, four of them very seriously.

The evacuees, mainly from Bedar, Los Gallardos, Antas and Lubrine,have been housed in the pavilions set up in Garrucha and other municipalities in eastern Almeria, where citizens and municipalities are providing assistance with water, food and basic necessities.

According to research, the source of the fire islikely to be  on a cable near a road, but Red Eléctrica and Endesa have ruled out that it belongs to their network and pointed out that it would be a private facility that was abandoned and without tension.
