The fire in Almeria has entered operational status "zero" and is about to be controlled after four days
Andalusian President Juanma Moreno has warned citizens that the impact of climate change on their community is "very high" and has called for awareness and "sensitivity."
The good development of last Thursday's forest fire in Los Gallardo (Almería) has reduced the emergency to "zero", the lowest level, after the fire was stabilized on Sunday.
This has been announced by the President of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, and the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, during their appearance at the command post organised in Tur.
The Andalusian President recently praised the coordination between all the administrations and the emergency services, which have been working in Infoca, the Military Emergency Unit, the fire brigade and the security forces.
In any case, and despite the good development of the fire, Moreno has expressed regret at the deaths of 13 people, the last of whom was a 93-year-old British woman who died from her injuries this Sunday, while fourothers are in a very serious condition in the Major Burn Unit of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville.
Moreno has warned that Andalusia will have to go through a "very hard" summer in terms of forest fires . He has explained that the abundant vegetation generated by the rains of recent months and the early heat waves have created a particularly favourable scenario for the spread of fire, and that the area burned is already three times greater than that recorded a year ago.
Likewise, the Andalusian president has explained to the public that the impact of climate change on his community is "very high" and has called for awareness and "sensitivity".
