The Bizkaia Council will take tanker trucks to Karrantza from tomorrow to ensure water supply
At the request of the City of Carranza, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia will carry tanker trucks to ensure the supply of water from 3 August. In recent weeks there has been little rain and a significant reduction in the available reserves of the municipality of Encartaciones. Due to the lack of drinking water, the City Council requested assistance and today the Foral institution announced its decision.
It will transport 250 cubic metres of water a day, fromMonday to Friday, as detailed in a note by the Council, which for the time being maintains the emergency measure for one month.
The transport of water from the facilities of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium to the municipal reservoirs shall be carried out by means of tanker trucks, with the San Esteban reservoir as the main point of supply and, if the needs of the system so require, the Ubal reservoir, the destination of which shall be determined at each time by the City of Carranza, depending on the status of the reserves and the needs of the municipal supply.
It is a dry summer and although the capacity of the reservoirs was high due to the spring rains, several municipalities, including Busturialdea and Lea-Artibai (Bizkaia) and Zuia (Álava), have recommended limiting water consumption.
