At least 12 complaints have been filed against the man who fraudulently rented a tourist apartment in Bilbao
EITB has collected testimony from two of the victims. The fraudster leased the apartment through Airbnb for three days. In just a few hours, without the real owner knowing anything, he leased it to a dozen people. The Ertzaintza has opened an investigation to catch the man and get the victims back the money they lost.

In the midst of a housing crisis, there are those who take advantage of the misfortune of the majority for their own benefit. They take advantage of the vulnerable situation of citizens in dire need to cheat and make a fortune. It has just happened in the neighbourhood of Deusto (Bilbao). The Ertzaintza has received 12 complaints, for the time being, against a man who has taken a tourist apartment and rerented it.
It is the neighborhood of Bilbao, near the center of Deusto. It is scarce for rent and very expensive. The fraudster has offered the house at a good price and has acted quickly, for two or three days.
The suspect is a 45-50 year-old man with a large build and a length of 1.80 meters.
According to two victims to EITB, the fraudster acted as follows: he rented the apartment on the platform of tourist houses Airbnb and told the owner that he wanted to meet Euskadi with a three-day stay.
He then rented the apartment on the Idealista website, wishing it a long-term contract, and many people contacted him. In a short time and without arousing suspicion, he tricked them and took out about 2,000 euros per person.
Lucia was the firstto tell of her experience, a native of Venezuela, looking for a flat for her family until she found the alleged pageant. She asked a family member for the money, and with the keys and the contract in her hand, she caught the trick when she entered the house, where, like herself, she found several other people who were victims of the scam.
The Ertzaintza has opened an investigation and is handling 12 complaints, as well as all the information provided by the real owner.
