All set in Bilbao, waiting for Marijaia to arrive

Everything is ready in Bilbao to receive Marijaia this afternoon. A few hours after the start of Big Week 2026, nervousness reigns in the city.
Marijaia will be accompanied this year by bertsolari Onintza Enbeita and Ainhoa Urrejola, member of the comparsa Kaixo , on the balcony of the Arriaga Theatre.
The good weatherwill accompany the start of the holidays, as temperatures are expected to rise on Saturday and the atmosphere will be sunny.
More than 500 proposals
This is the longest and largest week of the year in Bilbao, and many offers have been made for all audiences. The capital will offer a program with more than 500 cultural and leisure proposals. Amongthe concerts are Zea Mays, Leire Martínez, Bebe or M-Clan.
In the Txikigune, fireworks or barracks in Etxebarria Park, there will also be no lack of festive atmosphere.
Parties without aggression
Bilbao City Councilwill launch a strategy of macho, racist attacks and attacks on the LGTBIQ+ community with the start of the Big Week, which will include the distribution of cards and stickers on hotlines.
Under the motto Maximum Respect, the device will be launched for the third consecutive year.
Bilboko Konpartsak has also announced protocols and pointed out that the txosnas will be "safe reference points" for those who suffer or witness an attack during the holidays.
In addition, special municipal security and cleaning operations will remain in place for the duration of the holidays.
Public transport
Public transport will be strengthened during theholidays. Metro Bilbao will offer continuous service and increase frequencies at times of increased influx.
Bilbobuswill serve Gaucho every night, and Bizkaibuswill increase its night service. Euskotrenwill also strengthen its service.
