Loperena Cheese Shop wins Uharte Arakil Shepherd's Day Cheese Contest
At the auction, the winning cheese was sold for 5,000 euros and was taken away by Enrique Martinez's Maher restaurant in Cintruénigo.
Uharte Arakil hosted today, Sunday,thecelebration of the 58th edition of the Artzai Eguna , with the holding of the traditional contests that give prominence to the culture of shepherds and the production of cheese, with the Loperena cheese shop in Egozkue being the winner this year.
From the organization, Aralar Mendi Elkartea stressed in a statement that there has been no incident and that the celebration has been "crowded".
"The influx has been massive, and from the organization we would like to thank all those who have approached Uharte Arakil for being able to celebrate the day with absolute normality," said Aralar Mendi Elkartea.
He has also assured us that "all the objectives have been met, both in terms of the number of visitors and the development of the party".
At the auction, Enrique Martinez, owner of the Maher restaurantinCintruénigo, bought the winning cheese for 5,000 euros.
In the organic cheese category, the winner has been Utxama Cheese from Dorrao.
