Vocational Training has started the course with almost 8,000 more places, with two new double grades
Almost 75,000 places have been offered and for the time being just over 51,000 students have been registered (the enrollment period will be open until 16 October). Today, officials and authorities of the FP, in the presence of the President and the Education Counsellor, held the opening of the course at the CIFP Mendizabala LHII in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
As the eight non-university schools have done today, the Vocational Training (FP) of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) has today begun the 2026-2027 course. With 7,920 places more than the previous course (a total of 74,963), 51,785 students have enrolled in the five grades offered (A, B, C, D and E), but this number is expected to increase to 55,000, as the enrolment period will remain open until 16 October.
The official opening of the new school year took place at the CIFP Mendizabala in Vitoria-Gasteiz, chaired by the President, Imanol Pradales, and attended by the Education Counsellor, Begoña Pedrosa, the Deputy Minister of Vocational Training, Jon Labaka, and the Director of the Unai Otxoa College of Aspuru.

Of the nearly 75,000 places on offer, most are for high-end avars, and 69% are concentrated on the public network.
Bizkaia is the territory with the largest number of students, almost 24,000, followed by Gipuzkoa (almost 19,500) and 7,371 in Álava, with enrolments increasing by 3.6 per cent over the previous year.
The presence of women also continues to rise . They currently account for 35.75% of students (0.5% increase over the previous year). The Government's objective is for women to enter industrial cycles, where female registrations have increased from 12.49% to 12.85%. It should be recalled that for the first time this course half of the places have been reserved for them.
With regard to the language model, Model D has increased by 7.62 per cent, while the cycles introducing English as an additional language have increased by 14.9 per cent, with 947 students currently enrolled in multilingual cycles.
Two new double degrees.
As a novelty, this course offers two double degrees: the degree of Kitchen Management and Kitchen Services Management (superior degree in the CIFP Galdakao Hospitality) and thedegree of Electrical and Automatic Installations and Telecommunication Facilities (CIFP Iurreta) , both lasting three courses.
