The fire started again in Derio a few hours after it went out early in the morning
The fire started around 8.30 p.m. on Monday in a wooded area in the San Isidro district, near Loiu airport. Although the firefighters managed to completely extinguish the flames around 5.30 a.m., the fire has reignited and work is currently under way to extinguish the flames.
Although the forest fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in Derio (Bizkaia) was extinguished early in the morning, the Department of Safety and Security has reported that it has recently reignited, and firefighters are currently working there.
The fire originated around 8.30 p.m. on Monday in a forest in the San Isidro district of Mount Aiartza, very close to Loiuairport. Fortunately, the incident did not affect the operation of the airport facilities, nor did any housing be affected; however, during the night shutdown work, two residents of the surrounding villages were evicted as a precaution.
The fire brigade worked hard all night until, around 5.30 a.m., they managed to completely extinguish the flames. After being declared extinct, a surveillance team remained there to refresh the ground, but the flames reignited this Tuesday afternoon.
