Commercial calls will begin with 400 from Saturday
The phone number will make it possible to distinguish between calls that try to attract new customers.
Commercial calls aimed at attracting customers, starting this Saturday, will have to start with 400, so recipients can identify them.
Those who receive a call that does not start with 400 may reportit: either by complaint to the Telecommunications User Care Office or by complaint to the National Commission on Markets and Competition.
The measure, which will enter into force on 17 October and falls within the framework of the Customer Service Act, completesthe Planto Combat Telephone and SMS Fraud , launched in collaboration with the main telecommunications operators of the State, as stated by Óscar López, Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Service, at a forum organized by the newspaper 'Cinco Días'.
This plan also requires customer service calls to be made from special numbers: identifiers starting with 800 or 900 , short numbers specifically assigned or geographical numbers.
Registration of aliases for sending SMS
From mid-September, mobile phone operators block messages sent from aliases that are not previously registered inthe official database of the National Commission on Markets and Competition. En order to use names, trademarks, trade names, social names or domains must be in that database.
One month after the entry into force of this obligation, López has stressed that this measure has alreadyallowed 6 million SMSs to be blocked, which "allows us to be sure that the SMSs received under pseudonym belong to that company or organization."
