Most of the committees at the Puerta del Sol have begun to leave the square to take the movement "to the neighborhoods"
Representatives of the camp have reported that the next task will be to prepare and support a general strike for the right to housing called for November 11.
Most of the committees that have organized the housing rights camp at the Puerta del Sol for more than a month have been dissolved and its members have decided to leave the site to move their activities to "neighborhoods", according to a statement from the Camping 26S .
The text states that the camp will move to "neighborhoods" to become a working-class social movement. From now on, the work will focuson preparing and supportingthe general strike called for 11November , as reported on Saturday by the newspaper El País .
"The camp has met enormous goals and expectations, reminding us that the people have many instruments of direct political intervention," the document says, adding that the movement will continue to fight for its rights "whatever comes out after the November 29 elections and whatever is in the Congress of Deputies."
However, not all the committees have decided to leave the square, and two committees that had existed since the beginning of the camp will remain.
The Delegation of the Government in Madrid sent a letter on Monday to the interlocutors of the camp at the Puerta del Sol, in which, given the "reasonable time" that has elapsed since the camp was established, it encouraged them to complete the initiative, considering that the conditions and demands of the protest "have changed".
Government Delegation sources have confirmed that this was one of the latest decisions taken by Francisco Martin before he resigned.
On the other hand, the Community of Madrid announced on Friday that it had filed a complaint with the Madrid High Court of Instance against the government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, for alleged offences of administrative prevarication, for "not acting at the Puerta del Sol and not leaving the camp".
