Two people have been arrested in Galdakao on charges of assaulting two others with a punch and a metal bar

A 56-year-old man and a 44-year-old womanwere arrested yesterday afternoon in Galdakao (Bizkaia) on charges of assaulting two other people with a punch and a metal bar . The victims had to be taken to hospital, according to the Department of Safety and Security in a statement.

According to sources, the events took place at 4.15 p.m. in a park in Galdakao, where the local police requested assistance from the Ertzaintza on the occasion of the serious injury to a couple, one of whom was injured with a sharp object. 

The officers displaced to the scene found that the two assailants had gone to the park and attacked a man with a punch. When the woman accompanying him tried to defend him, they hit him with a metal bar on his head. Then they used the same bar to attack him.

One of the alleged perpetrators, a 56-year-old male, had been arrested 25 times and the 44-year-old woman 13 times, both of whom have been charged with serious bodily harm.

Both were taken to the police station and the relevant proceedings will be brought before the courts.

The victims, a 53-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, were taken to hospital.
