A crowd gathered on the third Saturday in Bayonne to protest the price of life
Some3,000 people have gathered this Saturday in Baionaunder the slogan "Youth Support - For Public Services - Against the Price of Life" at the demonstrationcalled for this 31 October by the trade unions CGT, LAB, Unsa and Solidaires.
Although the turnout was somewhat lower than last Saturday , today there was also a crowd in the streets of Bayonne to protest against the increase in the price of life .
During the march, which started at 2 p.m., numerous slogans and banners were seen at the hands of demonstrators of all ages.
In order to avoid the riots that took place last weekend, strict security measures have been put in place in the labour capital and rallies in front of the town hall and the sub-prefecture have been banned. At one point, however, there have been incidents on the Santespiritu bridge and the police have fired deplorable gasat the demonstrators.
Prior to today's mobilisation, the CGT union, at a press conference, denounced the "police abuses" that took place at the demonstration on 24 October. During the hearing, the union gathered testimony from a young man who was "a victim of police violence" and announced that the young man would go to court.
On the other hand, the police have again placed checks on the Irún border - Biriatu and the bridges of Behobia, Santiago and Avenida - from 06:30 to 14:30. In front of them, the City Council of Irun has addressed the Government of France to urge the French Government to suspend the checks, since on 24 October long queues were formed in the direction of Bayonne, not only on the AP-8, but also on the roads in the area.
