Brazil's former president, Jair Bolsonaro, has been convicted by the Brazilian Supreme Court of attempted coup against the current president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, after losing the 2022 election.
Three of the five judges who are trying the case have voted in favour of this decision, one of whom is Judge Carmen Lucía Antunes, who has said that it has been proven that the ultra-right-wing leader organized and led a "criminal organization" to "destroy" a democratic government.
Bolsonaro is currently under house arrest, and it remains to be seen what punishment he will be sentenced to.
