Jimmy Kimmel, one of America's best-known night TV presenters, canceled the ABC program after a monologue in which he questioned the MAGA movement and Donald Trump himself.
The broadcast caused great unrest in the White House. Brendan Carr, head of the Federal Communications Committee, appointed by Trump, threatened the ABC network to exclude the host. Disney's company decided to remove the space that Kimmel has been running at night for more than 20 years.
The US president himself celebrated the decision on his social network, quoting other presenters like Jimmy Fallon or Seth Meyers. The incident recalls what happened in July, when, under pressure from the president, CBS ended Stephen Colbert's program, another of the biggest references in the late night format.
