Some of Trump's new tariffs, including 100% on medicines, come into effect
As of today, all imported medicines will be subject to 100% tariffs, 25% for large trucks from abroad, and 50% for kitchen furniture, bathroom dressers and related products.
A US-imposed tariff package came into effect this Wednesday, October 1, after US President Donald Trump announced it on Friday.
"From October 1, 2025, we will impose a 100% tariff on any brand or patented imported drug, unless it has no company in the United States that is building a plant," he said on the social network 'Truth Social'.
Trump will also impose a 25% tax on "heavy, large" trucks from abroad. The president said he made this decision to "protect" national manufacturers from these products, "unfair external competition," and the "good financial health" of truckers.
Trump has imposed an additional 50% tax on "kitchen furniture, bathroom dressers, and related products," and 30% on "upholstered furniture."
