Milei's party has won Argentina's legislative election by far
Argentina's president, Javier Milei, has celebrated the victory of his party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), and has declared that the government has passed the "hinge point" and has stressed that now "the great Argentina will begin to be built."
Argentine President Javier Milei's La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party has won the legislative election with 39% ofthe vote, while Peronist Fuerza Patria and her allies have won 29.4%, according to official data.
With 95.6% of the votes cast, LLA has won in the major provinces and territories of Argentina, such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza, and has won an unexpected victory in Buenos Aires, crushed by Peronism in last September's provincial elections.
With these numbers, officialism is on its way to achieving the goal of one third of the Lower House to push through reform projects and counter the opposition's attempts to block presidential decrees.
In the Senate, La Libertad Avanza prevailed in six of the eight constituencies that renewed their seats in the Upper House. However, it will still not have the third necessary to defend its own laws linked to the adjustment plan and veto the reforms promoted by the opposition.
Third is the United Provinces Party, an alliance of governors with 5.8 votes.
Argentina's president, Javier Milei, has welcomed his party's victory in the legislative elections and believes that the government has passed the "hinge point" and is now beginning to "build a great Argentina. "
"Today has been a historic day for Argentina," Milei said from the LLA bunker in Buenos Aires, where, together with his team, he celebrated his election victory.
U.S. President Donald Trump has congratulated Javier Milei on his party's "overwhelming victory"in Argentina's legislative election.
"Congratulations to President Javier Milei on his overwhelming victory in Argentina! He's doing a great job! The Argentine people have justified our confidence in him," Trump has posted on the Truth Social network as he travels to Japan.
