Hamas announces that it will hand over to Israel the body of another hostage killed tonight
The Palestinian group attributes the delay in recovering the 13 bodies of the hostages to a lack of resources.
The Islamist organization Hamas has announced in a statement that on Monday at 21:00 (20:00 in the Basque Country) it will hand over to Israel the body ofanother hostage as part of the ceasefire agreement.
Israel will then have to confirm whether the remains correspond to one of the 13 hostagesstill in Gaza.
Palestinian factions opened searches on Sunday beyondthe "yellow line", that is, the area that remains under the control of the Israeli Army, which continues to control 53% of the enclave.
The International Committee of the Red Cross was present at the excavations, for which Egypt also sent shippers, excavators, and vehicles.
The head of the Hamas negotiating delegation, Jalil Al Haya, reiterated in a statement released on his official channels on Monday that "we have the firm and sufficient will to prevent the return of the war to Gaza" and that they do not intend to give Israel "any excuse" to resume the bombing.
However, it has stressed that the "problems" of searching for the bodies of the hostages continue to be addressed due to tons of rubble and the massive destruction in Gaza after more than two years of Israeli bombing.
"There are problems in searching for the bodies of prisoners because the Zionist occupation has changed the nature of the Gaza Strip in the war of extermination," he lamented.
It has also stated that the leaders of the group responsible for burying these bodies were killed in Israeli attacks or "do not know where they were buried".
