The polling stations are open from 08:00 (11:00 in the Basque Country).
The National Electoral Chamber has reported that 23% of citizens have already voted four hours after the ballot box opened.
The 24 provincial senators from the Argentine capital and representatives from the provinces of Cacho, Entre Ríos, Neuque, Río Negro, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tierra del Fuego will be elected in the vote.
Along with them, the Argentines will also elect127 deputies from all 24 districts.
The first official results of the count are expected to be known from21:00 (00:00 on Monday).
Test for Milei.
The election will be the first test for Javier Milei, the current president of the republic since he took office in late 2023.
Elections take place in a highly polarized situation between the two powerful parties, La Libertad Avanza de Milei and the Fuerza Patria of the Peronist front.
