The inauguration of the Great Egyptian Museum, "an unprecedented historic event"
What is the largest archaeological site dedicated to a single civilization is located on the plain of Giza, just two kilometers from the pyramids of the same name. It has an area of 50 hectares and contains more than 100,000 pieces, including the mask of Tutankhamun or the sculpture of Pharaoh Rameses II.
The world's largest archaeological site dedicated to a single civilization, the Great Museum of Egypt (GEM), opens this Saturday, the 1st of Azarao, and looks eagerly at Egypt, a spectacular building located only two kilometers from the plateau pyramids of Giza.
At the foot of the pyramids of Giza stand out the enormous collection of more than 100,000 pieces that can be admired and examined in a set of 50,000 square feetof buildings on thewestern edge of the Nile, the golden mask of Tutankhamun or the great colossus of Rameses II.
It is an "unprecedented historical fact" for both the country and the universal culture, according to the authorities of the Arab country.
Hundreds of television channels, Internet platforms and social networks around the world, such as Tik Tok (one of the main sponsors of the event), will broadcast the event live .
Egypt wants to open its image to the world and turn the Great Egyptian Museum into a tourist and celebrity attraction. It is expected to attract about 5 million visitors each year to consolidate Egypt as a reference for cultural tourism, on which the country's economy depends to a large extent.

It has taken more than two decades for the Great Museum of Egypt to become a reality because of the revolutions that have prolonged the works, the pandemic and the economic crisis. It has taken an investment of $1.2 billion. The building is triangular and is oriented towards the pyramids of Keops and Micerino. The building has been applauded by many, not only environmentally responsible, but it is an innovative design that follows the highest standards of preservation and display of works of art thousands of years old.

Tutankhamun's mask and much more
The Great Museum of Egypt will gather more than 100,000 pieces, covering the history of the year 7,000, from predynastic Egypt to the Greco-Roman era, of which 20,000 will be unpublished.
Among the main attractions of the museum is the huge array of Tutankhamun objects , namely 5,398 objects, which have all been grouped together in a single space of 7,500 square meters, in a spectacular area dedicated to the Pharaoh child. The mask of Tutankhamun is undoubtedly the central piece of the Great Museum of Egypt.
