550,000 Syrians have returned from Turkey to their country since the fall of al-Assad
"Since December 8, 2024, 550,000 Syrians have voluntarily returned, with complete security and without loss of honour," Minister Yerlikaya has posted on the X social network.
Turkey's Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya reported on Saturday that 550,000 Syrians have returned from Turkey to Syria since December 8, 2024, when President Bashar al-Assad fled after a rebel militia offensive.
"Since December 8, 2024, 550,000 Syrians have voluntarily returned, with complete security and without lossof honour, "Minister Yerlikaya has posted on the X social network.
"We have never turned our backs on those who suffer oppression, hunger and war! We will never ignore the cries! We stood on the side of God, the good and the oppressed," the minister stressed.
Yerlikaya has celebrated that on December 8 it will be "one year since the end of Assad's tyranny," which has led to the return of displaced persons. "The number of Syrians returning home since 2016 has reached 1,290,000," he said.
