At least nine people have been killed and ten others injured in the attack by twelve armed men on a bar in Bekkersdal, about 40 kilometres from Johannesburg, South Africa.
"The Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Department, together with the Crime Tracking and Detection Unit, has begun searching for suspects involved in the multiple shooting in Bekkersdale in the early morning of 21 December 2025, resulting in nine deaths and 10 injuries," the African Police said.
Around 13:00 (local time), twelve armed people have left a white van and a silver vehicle and shot at people inside a bar.
For the time being, the reasons for the attack are unknown, and the police forces have put in place "all necessary means" to clarify what happened. "Any person with information that may assist in the investigation may contact the Crime Control Service (Police)," they said.
