US President Donald Trump has given Iran 10 days to reach an agreement on its nuclear program and has threatened that otherwise "bad things" will happen.
The US and Iran have been negotiating for weeks. This week Tehran was positive and said there has been progress, but the US president has tightened the situation by setting a deadline.
Trump has said that "it is clear that, after years of disagreements, it will not be easy to reach an agreement with Iran." But he has insisted that a consensus must be reached: "We must reach a meaningful agreement, otherwise bad things will happen," he said.
Indeed, the US does not rule out military action in the Middle East. According to several sources cited by the New York Times, the US military could be in a position to attack on Saturday, as it has prepared several warships and aircraft.
Trump will have the last word, but to do so he has made a clear demand: "The time has come to unite Iran on the road we are walking." He has declared that they cannot "continue to threaten the stability of the entire region."
