Iran and Oman negotiate a "protocol" to cross the Strait of Hormuz
"The purpose of these talks is to examine the procedure for ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz ," said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei on Monday.
Iran and Omanare negotiating theProtocol for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked since the US and Israel started the war against Iran.
"The purpose of these talks is to examine the procedure for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, "said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei on Monday.
Bagaei has indicated that the two countries met yesterday and that an agreement will be reached soon.
Both Iran and Oman have coastlines in Ormuz, a strategic corridor through which 20% of the world's oil flows.
The Islamic Republic, however, closed the Strait on 28 February, the day of the outbreak of war, and has since permitted only the transit of ships from the countries it has allied with.
