Trump has called for the dismissal of Jimmy Kimmel for his parody of the White House
On Thursday, on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show, Kimmel parodied what he would say if he were the comedian chosen to cheer up the White House correspondents' dinner. At one point in the parody, Kimmel said, "Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have the glow of someone waiting for a widow."
As Melania Trump asked the American ABC network, President Donald Trump has also called for the "immediate dismissal" of presenter Jimmy Kimmel.
"Jimmy Kimmel should be fired immediately by Disney and ABC," Trump said in his Truth Social network, describing what the comedian said in last Thursday's program as "a despicable call to violence."
In the Thursday performance of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', Kimmel parodied what he would say if he were the comedian chosen to cheer up the White House correspondents' dinner. At one point in the parody, Kimmel said, "Here's our first lady. Look at Melania, so beautiful.
"The day after that, a madman tried to enter the White House correspondents' dinner room with a shotgun, a gun, and several knives. He was there for an obvious and insidious reason. I understand that so many people who wouldn't normally react to anything he said are outraged by Kimmel's despicable call to violence," Trump said in his social network.
Kimmel has assured that "it was by no means a call to murder." He said it was an "easy joke" about the age difference between the Trump couple, "Donald's nearly 80 and Melania is younger than me," the presenter explained.
Last year, the ABC network canceled Kimmel's show after commenting on conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered on September 10.
