The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the deportation of Abukesh and Ávila and has called them "professional provocateurs".
Adalah human rights center has reported that Israeli authorities have "released and deported" Spanish-Palestinian activist Saif Abukesh and his Brazilian colleague Thiago Ávila.
"Although they are now at large, Adalah wishes to condemn the entire process for a flagrant violation of international law, for their illegal detention and ill-treatment since their abduction in international waters," the organization said in a statement.
In addition, Adalah has denounced the "arrests and interrogations" of activists and human rights defenders as an "unacceptable attempt to suppress" solidarity with Palestine.
