Seven wounded, two of them seriously, in a car crash in Modena
The driver attacked a person who tried to hold him with a knife. Witnesses ruled out the accident because "the car was driving at 100 kilometers per hour in downtown Modena."
Seven people have been injured, two of them seriously, whenthey were hit by a high-speed vehicle driving through the city centre of Modena, northern Italy, whose driver, despite attempting to flee, has been arrested.
According to the first data released on the hit-and-run,thedriver of the car at a high speed z and several passers-by were intercepted in Largo Porta Bologna, after which the vehicle collided with a shop window.
When he got out of the car, the driver tried to stab a person he was trying to hold. In the end, however, he managed to hold her while the police arrived.
According to various media reports, the detainee is a 31-year-old Italian from a Moroccan family. Serate was born in Bergamo, but he lives in Modena.
"We must investigate the cause of the incident, but it is a tragic act . I'm so disappointed. This is a very serious incident; if it were an attack, it would be even more serious, "Modena Mayor Massimo Mezzetti said on social media.
Two of the seven wounded are very serious. A woman is the most serious, as she has been taken to hospital in critical condition .

The person who managed to hold him has explained that four or five other people helped him catch the driver. The latter, with a knife in his hand, attacked him, causing some slight injuries.
Other witnesses have ruled out an accident on the grounds that the vehicle was travelling more than 100 kilometres per hour.
