U.S. President Donald Trump's meeting in the White House to make a "final decision" on Iran has ended without agreement, The New York Times reported.
The meeting lasted about two hours in the White House crisis room, but the president made no decision on a deal that would end the war in the Middle East, a senior administration official told the newspaper.
The US government believes that a deal is close, but warns that there are still issues to be discussed, including the unblocking of Iranian funds, according to the said newspaper.
In any case, Trump announced that he would hold a meeting at the White House this Friday to "make a final decision" on Iran. In a publication on the Truth Social network, the US president stressed that to do so, the Islamic Republic must refrain from developing a nuclear weapon and immediately open the Strait of Hormuz.
The White House announced on Thursday that negotiators had reached a pre-agreement with Iran, but Tehran denied any agreement.
