Venezuelans woke up on Monday shaken by a 4.6 degree earthquake in the north of the country, which did not cause damage in thecountry, just five days after the double earthquake, which so far has left 1,450 dead.
The United States Geological Service (USGS) has indicated that this new tremor has reached a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located 27 kilometers north of the town of Caraballeda in La Guaira, the state most affected by Wednesday's earthquakes.
The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis), for its part, has reported a magnitude of 4.2.
In any case, the President of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, has stated through Telegram that there is no additional damage to the territory.
Rescue work continues
Residents of La Guaira continue to search for relatives trapped in collapsed buildings and report a shortage of officials and machinery.
On Sunday, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez declared that rescue efforts would continue because people were still alive.
He announced the immediate establishment of an inspection board for homes damaged by the double earthquake, suspended classes for a week, and the presidential committee will be responsible for evaluating other infrastructure.
According to the most recent official figures, 1,450 people have died and 3,150 have been injured.
