Iran promises to control Ormuz "by force" after bombing Qatar, Oman and Bahrain
Tension with the United States is mounting, and Washington has carried out at least 140 bombings of Iran.
The wave of shelling by the Iranian Army and the Revolutionary Guard in recent hours has left at least three wounded in Qatar and raised alarm bells in Oman and Bahrain following warnings from the authorities of the Islamic republic about controlling Ormuz.
"We have taken control of the Strait by force and we will protect it by force," Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Committee spokesman Ebrahim Rezaei warned on social media hours after Iranian chief negotiator Mohamed Baqer Qalifab informed the US that the era of unilateral treaties "is over," statements he made in reference to major interpretative discrepancies over the memorandum of understanding governing the ceasefire that has been in place.
While Bahrain 's alarms rang three times this morning, the Kingdom's Ministry of the Interior called for calm and urged the population to move to the nearest safe place, security sources told the official news agency ONA that "there have been several attacks on government targets in Musandam" in a mountainous area of Oman, the Strait of Hormuz area and the border with the United Arab Emirates.
The most serious attacks, however, have been inQatar , and the Ministry of the Interior has reported that at least three people, including a minor, have been injured "by falling on shrapnel".
The U.S. Army General Command (CENTCOM) announced early this Sunday morning attacks on Iran following the Revolutionary Guard's attack on a commercial ship. Indeed, according to Tehran, the Strait of Hormuz is closed until further notice.
Thus, Washington reported that in the third round of attacks on Iran this week, 140 Iranian military targets have been hit, including "missile and drone depots, marine resources, ammunition stores, communications networks, and coastal surveillance posts."
