Hamas confirms disarmament agreement, but makes Israel's withdrawal from Gaza a condition
In this context, the Palestinian group reiterates that it will not hand over the weaponry currently in its possession before Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip.

Hamas confirmed on Friday afternoon thedisarmament agreement announced by Trump, but insisted that it will not hand over weapons until Israeli troops leave Gaza, which Israel opposes, the group said in its first official statement after US President Donald Trump announced that the Peace Commission has reached an agreement to achieve "total disarmament" .
In the text, the Palestinian group stresses that the agreement on the seizure of heavy weapons is"bound and conditioned" by Israel's compliance with ten demands, including the cessation of all Israeli attacks on Gaza (more than 1,200 people have been killed despite the ceasefire) and the withdrawal of all troops from the Gaza Strip.
But the document also mentions other conditions that the Israeli Government or Benjamin Netanyahu himself would never accept, such as "reconstruction, guaranteeing the right to self-determination, establishing an independent Palestinian state and protecting the rights of its citizens."
The other four conditions mentioned by Hamas are the speedy recovery of Gaza, the entry of the National Administrative Commission (NCAG) into the area, the deployment of international protection forces and the dismantling of Israeli-backed armed gangs and militias.
"The basic condition is that the Israeli occupation undertakes to cease the killings and end the attacks. (...) The second phase of the agreement will require the Israeli occupation to commit itself to complying with all the provisions contained in the first phase," Hamas added,referringto Trump's 20-point plan presented on 29 September 2025.
In recent hours, several Palestinians have been injured in an Israeli air strike, hours after Trump announced the deal, according to health professionals on the ground. In these nearly ten months of truce, Israel has killed an average of four Palestinians a day in Gaza, including children.
Trump, for his part, has announced in a message in Truth Social that "the agreement will materialize in carefully structured phases,"and that once disarmament is completed, "Israeli forces will withdraw from Gaza," while the International Stabilization Force and a new Palestinian police force will ensure security in Gaza.
It has also stated that the issue of weapons storage will be under the supervision of the National Administrative Commission in Gaza and that Israel will not "participate" in this work.
However, the details of the agreement are not clear, and there are doubts as to what the parties have agreed and within what time frame it would be implemented, as the Israeli army has built a new sandwall in Gaza for months, occupied almost 70% of the territory, and forcibly displaced thousands of other Palestinian families.
