Oman plans to open a temporary safe passage in Ormuz soon
Iran and Oman will continue technical negotiations to reach an agreement on a sustainable maritime route, as well as mechanisms for the exchange of information, the management of maritime traffic and the provision of navigation and security services.
Oman's foreign minister, Badr al Busaidi, announced on Tuesday that he hopes to establish a temporary corridor for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
"I am optimistic that we will soon announce a temporary corridor to the Strait of Hormuz and practical measures to restore safe navigation," he said on social network X, following a meeting in Tehran with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi.
The head of diplomacy describedthe conversation in Tehran as "constructive" and stated that the future management of the strait and its permanent solution will be considered "at the right time", referring to Article 5 of the Islamabad memorandum.
Al Busaid added that Oman will hold talks with other members of the area to protect "peace and cooperation, stability and freedom of navigation."
