Yellow vests called for demonstrations on Saturday, and Macron accuses Trump of manipulating revolts
To date, 341 calls for mobilization have been registered, which will be dealt with by a "massive" deployment of security forces, while the Executive accuses foreign authorities of distorting information, which has led to "stupid comments."
The "Yellow Vests" group has made official the call for demonstrations throughout France next Saturday. One of the spokespersons for the collective, Benjamin Ball, has stated that an official request has been submitted for a demonstration in Paris on Saturday, which includes some areas banned by the Prefecture last week.
The call, which seeks to denounce the increase in the price of life, is supported by traditional unions and student organizations, whose protests took place three weeks ago and were the germ of last weekend's violent riots.
The demonstrations called for Saturday, for the time being, bring together 341 calls, compared to 1800 last week.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, who admitted last week that the scale of the protests had been underestimated, has announced a "massive" deployment of security forces this week.
The Minister of the Interior, Laurent Núñez, has also announced the deployment of military units to assist in the surveillance of public places.
Manipulation of revolts
Macron, on the other hand, has denounced the "manipulation" of events, "including by foreign leaders," which, according to the French president, "has led to stupid and unacceptable comments."
Macron has not named a specific leader, but when asked if he referred to Trump, he said, "Among other things," because Trump has used French revolts in his internal US political campaign to warn of the threat of immigration.
"We have seen artificial intelligence images that have shown scenes that have never happened in France, there are people who have said that we have been invaded by Islamist immigrants, and that is not true," he said.
Macron added, "Those who speak ill of France at the moment do not love France. These people annoy me." When you see people campaigning in the region or across the Atlantic, sometimes using images created by artificial intelligence, and those who try to convince us that this is happening in France, they want to campaign at our expense.
