Keys to Navarre's Solar Eclipse Safety Device

The Foral Government and several municipalities have organized 1,165 workers to facilitate the observation of the entire eclipse on 12 August and to ensure public safety. Navarre will be a privileged setting to enjoy this event.

That is why the Foral Government of Navarre has launched an advisory campaign to follow before and after the eclipse:

Self-protection

• Bring at least two liters of water per person.
• Have a portable mobile phone battery .
• Carry a flashlight with spare batteries.
• Download maps of the area so they can be used without Internet access.

Fire prevention

• Don't park on the vegetationbecause the engine heat can cause a fire.
• It is forbidden to make fires or barbecues, even to throw cigarette waste on the ground.
• Don't leave the glass bottles in the sun and pick up all the waste.

Mobility

• Stopping to see the eclipse onthe roadways is not permitted because of the risk of an accident.
• You don't have to leave the car in the driveways .
• It is recommended not to travel on forest tracks and rural roads, as the absence of signage, light and cover endangers safety.
• Make it easy for emergency vehicles.
• After the event, it is recommended to wait at least 30 minutes before returning to the vehicle to avoid traffic jams.
• Avoid unnecessary travel before or after the eclipse.

The event also highlighted the importance of following the authorities' instructions and being informed through official channels.

Finally, the Internal Affairs, Civil Service and Justice Counsel, Inma Jurio, has invited those interested in this event to approach one of the 20 Official Observation Points that have been prepared and are specially designed for the public to witness the eclipse in the best conditions.
