British artist David Hockney dies
The painter, one of the great names of British pop art, was A088 years old.
British painter David Hockney died at the age of 88, according to the artist's representative, Erica Bolton, on Friday.
"The famous British artist David Hockney, one of the most important figures in contemporary art in the 20th and 21st centuries, died peacefully at home on June 11, 2026, with one month left to turn 89," Bolton said in a statement.
Hockney, born in Yorkshire, England, on July 9, 1937, was a pioneering artist in the use of technology and painted his latest works entirely in Ipade.
Being born under the grey sky of the industrial city of Bradford, Yorkshire County, in the 1960s he was completely fascinated by the light and the atmosphere of freedom in California, where he settled for 40 years.
Hockney worked not only on wineries and landscapes, but also portraits of friends and family, as well as stage designs for theatre and opera.
He held two exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in 2012 and 2017.
