The Nouvelles Vagues will shine stars in Biarritz
For six days, from 23 to 28 June, the Nouvelles Vagues Biarritz City Council and the Chanel Fashion House in the Labour town will host more than 30 film screenings at the Gare du Midi, the Royal Cinema, the Casino and special screens such as the street, the seafront.
In programming that looks especially at young people, eight feature films not previously released in the French state will compete in the Official Section, including the film by Moroccan filmmaker Les frasises Laïla Marrakchi, with the participation of Navarre actress Itsaso Arana.
A jury led by American actress and director Kristen Stewart will decide which of these eight films deserve the festival's highest award, jury award and best performance. Stewart will also present The chronology of water, the first feature film he directed, out of competition, of course, at the Biarritz festival.
Out of competition will also be The Black Ball , the film that earned Los Javis the award for the best director of the Cannes festival, the film that awarded the Cannes performance award to Coward Emmanuel Macchia and Valetin Campagne, Matthias and Maxim (presented by Xavier Dolan himself), Maria Callas: lettres et mémories (presented by Monica Bellucci), Rize (chosen and presented by Marion Cotillard) and La dernière séance (chosen by Isle Perupte).
In addition, special sessions will see the first feature film by Irati Gorostidi, The New Age, as well as the 1983 documentary Femmes dans l'action in the Basque Country directed by Daniel Wronecki, a film that looks at conflict and violence from a female perspective.

The LGTBIQ+ Bilbao Film and Performing Arts Festival, to be held from 22 to 29 June, will feature more than 40 films in the Official Section and will cover Bilbao with more than 50 activities related to culture and sexual, identity and gender diversity.

Actor, producer and director Ricardo Darín will star in the official poster of the 74 edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival, which will be held from 18 to 26 September 2026. The posters have been designed by the Wallijai Donostiarra studio. In the case of the poster starring Darin, they have created a collage from a portrait taken in 2024. Along with theofficial poster, posters from the other sections have also been released,wishing to pay tribute to the film trades.
