Attorney General Alvaro García Ortiz will testify before the Supreme Court today for the alleged leak of Ayuso's partner
TheAttorney General of the State, Alvaro García Ortiz , will testify on Wednesday as accused in the trial against him in the Supreme Court. This will be his first extensive statement since the beginning of the trial, in which he is charged with leaking an email related to the couple of Madrid President Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
García Ortiz openly denied leaking confidential information or ordering its disclosure when he testified before the investigating judge in January, and refused to do so on the first day of the trial, answering with a negative question as to whether he was responsible for the crimes charged with him.
Eleven officers of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard explained the details of the investigation, including the search carried out on 30 October in the offices of the Attorney-General and the Provincial Chief Prosecutor, which was finally excluded from the proceedings by the Supreme Court.
The court will also today hear details of the dumping of confiscated devices and the findings of the UCO, according to which García Ortiz had a "significant involvement" in the events that led to the leak under investigation.
The Attorney-General requests four to six years' imprisonment and twelve years' disqualification from public and private charges. In addition to denying the leaking of mail on 2 February 2024, García Ortiz has assumed responsibility for the press release issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office to clarify information on the alleged fiscal pact between the lawyer of Ayuso's partner and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
It is expected that he will also have toanswer the questions about the deletion of the devices and the mail account . He justified this action by the threats he received. In his previous statement, he explained that he "regularly" deletes all information from the terminals because they have "ultrasensible" data and claims that he does so "by legal imposition."
