Itziar Carrocera (PNV) has been appointed mayor of Santurtzi with the PSE-EE's five blank votes

The PNV candidate, Itziar Carrocera, has been appointed mayor of Santurtzi, Karmele Tubilla, to replace the outgoing jeltzale. Thanks to the blank votes of the five PSE-EE councillors, the jeltzale candidate has been appointed to the mayor's office.
To the candidates of the jeltzale party and EH Bildu, Mira Matanzas, a third was added this morning, PP Councillor Luis Ángel Urdiales (the party has only one councillor in the City Council).
Carrocera has received the support of the seven councillors of his party, Matanzas of EH Bildu and the two of Elkarrekin Podemos, while Urdiales has received only one vote. The socialists have not supported any of the three and have voted blank.
In his first speech as mayor, Carrocera has said that he assumes his responsibility "with illusion, respect and determination, aware of the difficulties, but aware that the people have the strength to face the future with agreement and courage." "I will give the DE to the people," he said.
