Spanish intelligence did not warn of the Ceuta crisis, according to the government
Spokesman Elma Sainz denied there was a CNI report.
The Spanish Government has said that there have been no reports from the National Intelligence Centre (CNI) warning of the magnitude of the crisis in Ceuta. More than 60,000 people crossed the border from Morocco in a short time.
In the face of the severity of the crisis, PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo has questioned whether the Spanish intelligence services did not have any information. "I do not believe that a mass of 60,000 or 70,000 people went unnoticed," he said.
In this regard, government spokeswoman Elma Saiz denied in an interview at TVE that the CNI had issued a report.
On the other hand, the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, has not responded directly to questions from the media during an official visit to the Zaragoza air base, where she stressed that CNI professionals, the Armed Forces Intelligence Centre (CIFAS) and the intelligence services of the National Police and the Civil Guard are doing "extraordinary work", so she did not wish to enter into the debate on her actions.
