The Basque Parliament ratifies jeltzale Beatriz Artolazabal as senator
Artolazabal has been elected with 39 votes in favour of the PNV and the PSE-EE and 36 blank votes of the opposition. Estefania Beltrán de Heredia will replace him as spokesperson for the PNV in the Senate.
On Thursday, the plenary of the Basque Parliament appointed Beatriz Artolazabalas Senator . Artolazabal will replace Estefania Beltrán de Heredia as spokesperson for the PNV in the Senate.
Artolazabal's candidacy, which until now held theposition of deputy mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz , has been successful with the support of PNV and PSE-EE (39 votes in favour) and opposition (36 blank votes) (EH Bildu, PP, Suma and Vox).
Artolazabal (Vitoria, 1970) joined the PNV at the age of 21. He studied Economic and Business Sciences at the UPV/EHU and began his political career as a councillor at the City Council of the Alavesa capital in 2000.
It is precisely in this body that he has been working for the last three years as the first deputy mayor and councillor for Public Spaces and Neighborhoods.
Throughout his political career, he has also been Director of Economy and Finance of Osakidetza, Deputy of Social Services of the Provincial Council of Álava and Counsellor of the Basque Government, first as Head of Employment and Social Policies and then as Head of Equality, Justice and Social Policies.
