Feijóo hopes to give Sanchez the "maximum possible punishment" in the elections
The PSOE hopes to increase the support of progressive forces for the "PP-Vox vulture coalition." Vox calls for "not buying the yoke before buying the oxen."
PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
Withinminutes of the announcement by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, of the call for early elections, reactions from political parties at the national level to this political earthquake have immediately arrived.
The PP's leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has called for a change to end the "black age" and address "national reconstruction." After ensuring that the call responds to "fear," he has said that Pedro Sánchez's management "deserves the greatest punishment."
In an institutional statement at the PP's headquarters, Feijóo has pointed out that on the 29th we must opt for "decline or change," "lie or change," "incompetence or change," and "corruption or change."
For her part, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has said that Sánchez "can no longer" and that the call for elections opens up "a great opportunity" to stop "crushing" Spain. "We are ready," she said.
PSOE
For its part, the PSOE has warned that it is "ready" to call early elections and has called for "broadening support" to "continue a progressive government" against the PP and Vox.
"Opposition from senseless state bulls to the point of questioning our electoral system," the PSOE said in a statement.
The PSOE has argued that it has "a project, a team and a strength" to stand up for the "progress made and a project that seeks to further expand rights and improve people's lives."
Vox
Vox's leader, Santiago Abascal, has been cautious and has urged voters to be "vigilant," "not to trust the polls," and "not to buy the yoke before buying oxen," referring to the possible victory of the PP and Vox.
In an interview with Antena 3 TV, Abascal insisted that the election result is "highly questionable, regardless of what the polls say."
"I have already learned not to buy the yoke before buying the oxen, because it happened in 2023, the polls said as they do today (that the PP and Vox would have a large majority) and Sanchez managed to form a majority," Abascal warned.
Wide front.
Sumar's new coalition, the so-called Broad Front, sees the call as "timely and necessary," and predicts that it will be "the key to a new majority" that will solve the housing problem and continue to "advance rights."
In a brief statement, the four parties that make up the Broad Front (Movimiento Sumar, IU, Mas Madrid and Comuns), still without a list head, have supported early elections.
"The Broad Front will be the key to a new majority that will solve this problem (housing) and continue to advance rights. We will fight. In the next few days we will announce the electoral brands, candidacies and alliances on the eve of our big event on October 17," they added.
BNG claims to form a "dam in front of the wave", referring to the far right.
The leader of ERC,Oriol Junjarzembowski, has said that they are "ready to defend Catalonia" and "improve people's lives."
UGT's Secretary General , Pepe Álvarez, has praised the Spanish Government's management of employment, arguing that the legacy of Pedro Sánchez's eight years is "enormous."
