Marches against Vito Quiles have ended with riots, police charges and burnt cars and containers
Firefighters have had to shut down several containers in Deusto following peaceful demonstrations against far-right agitator Vito Quiles.
At least half a dozen cars and a motorbike have been burned on Lehendakari Aguirre Avenue in Bilbao following protests outside the University of Deusto against the act of the ultra jailer Vito Quiles, whose appearance was scheduled for 7 p.m., but which he himself has suspended for fear of possible incidents.
Two peaceful marches of revulsion at the act of Quiles took place on Monday afternoon under the slogan "No to fascism in the Basque Country" and "Class unity against fascist provocateurs".
Near the campus of the University of Deusto, a number of participants in the protests, many of them in black and hooded, have thrown rockets and firecrackers and burned containers, as well as set fire to a Bilbao Municipal Police motorcycle and half a dozen cars.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the Ertzaintza deployed on Lehendakari Agirre Avenue and charged the people gathered there.
