A court has opened a case against Leire Díez for alleged influence trafficking
After learning of the audios in which the former PSOE militant talks about the UCO, an association of the Civil Guard has filed a complaint against him in which it also mentions other crimes such as bribery and obstruction of justice.
Madrid Examining Court No. 2 has opened proceedings againstformer PSOE militant\u00A0 Leire Diezfor an alleged crime of trafficking in influence.
The Civil Guard'sAssociation of Non-commissioned Officers (ASESGC) filed a complaint against Díez after he published a series of audio reports offering favours in exchange for information about members of the UCO or the Public Prosecutor's Office, which has led to the opening of the case.
The Court has referred the complaint to the Office of the Prosecutor for Economic Crimes for its report, which, according to legal sources, does not rule out the charge of other offences after the proceedings, since the complainant also refers tobribery and obstruction of justice .
ASESGC's complaint is also directed against three other persons: Jacobo Teijelo, Santos Cerdán's lawyer, and Javier Pérez Dolset and Alejandro Hamlyn, businessmen involved in various cases investigated in the National High Court for fraud.
According to the association, Díez allegedly acted "with the clear aim" of obtaining compromising information against Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Balas "on behalf of PSOE officials."
It also recalls that, in exchange for information, employers expected benefits in criminal proceedings.
In this regard, ASESGC has requested that the accused be taken to testify and that the audio submitted by the Criminal Investigation Service of the Civil Guard be analysed "in order to verify the integrity of the audio and to know whether it contains any cuts or additives", as well as to identify thevoices reliably.
The association has stated that the purpose of the complaint is to halt "the attempt to undermine the independence and credibility of the Civil Guard" and to defend "the professionalism of all members" of this police force.
This lawsuit is the first that a Madrid court has opened a case against the former socialist militant, and other associations, including Hazte Oir and Manos Limpia, filed lawsuits, but are currently awaiting a court decision.
