The President shall propose economic, self-government and housing agreements in his round of meetings with the parties and social partners
The meetings will take place from 8 to 15 September with the aim of strengthening dialogue and fostering partnerships in a context marked by international uncertainty and the electoral cycle of 2027.
The President, Imanol Pradales, will begin a round of contacts on 8 September with the political parties representedin the Basque Parliament, the main trade union organisations and Confebask withthe aim of strengthening dialogue and making progress in the search for agreements in various areas.
The economic situation and prospects for the future, the strengthening and expansion of the Basque self-government and the main initiatives of the Basque Government in the second half of the legislature will focus the meetings, which were announced at the beginning of the political course following the Governing Council held in Miramar, Donostia.
Theround falls within the objective of the Basque Government to deal with the second part of the legislature through dialogue and the search for agreements , promoting new spaces for participation and negotiation and avoiding conflictsthat do not help to respond to the concerns of the Basque people.
This commitment is particularly important in the face of a scenario marked by international uncertainty and the new electoral cycle opening in 2027, according to the Government.
What will be the three areas of work?
Economic situation and future prospects for growth and employment , with particular attention to the evolution of economic forecasts and inflation, measures taken in response to the situation in Hormuz, the impact of climate change and support for the primary sector, in which the Lehendakari will also present the general guidelines for the draft Budget 2027.
Strengthening and expanding the Basque self-government. Pradales will convey to the parliamentary groups the will of the Basque Government to reach agreements that go beyond the current majority in the Basque Parliament, as well as the negotiations with the Spanish Government to complete the Gernika Statute, with particular attention to social and labour issues, ports of general interest and the municipal electoral regime.
TheSocial Housing Fund is one of the initiatives and proposals in the areas of Housing, Industry, Economy and Euskera. The Government intends to combine public and private investment in order to accelerate the construction of public housing in the Basque Country and to achieve the greatest possible consensus on this priority.
